Persephone was dragged to the Underworld and made to stay there by the under Lord. In time, she was allowed to go back to Earth, but only to visit. Her home was as the Dark Lord’s bride in the Underworld. And thus, the joke was kind of on him when she became Queen of the Underworld, and actually took to own her role, and rule.
